MARINE SENSE

Yacht owners, designers and shipyards all have a vested interest in making the marine world as energy efficient as possible. Whether you are motivated by reducing cost, meeting new industry regulations or preserving our oceans, Sensory Energy can design and bring innovative energy solutions to the finest new-build or refit projects. When it comes to the marine world, we have 10 years experience in delivering projects worldwide, alongside our sister company Sensory International.

THE TIDES ARE TURNING ON ENERGY USE

In recent years, the maritime world has become increasingly concerned about its energy consumption, its impact on the environment and the need to meet tighter regulation. New legislation and amendments to MARPOL have set out to reduce the carbon emissions of all yachts over 400 tonnes and the carbon footprint of the yachting community globally.

As of January 2013, technical and operational measures have come into force, presenting a challenging tiered reduction in the energy usage in shipping.

ARE YOU LOST AT SEA ON ENERGY SAVING?

  • International shipping emitted 870 million tonnes, or about 2.7%, of the global man-made emissions of carbon dioxide in 2007.

The IMO is the UN body which regulates shipping. The Government has supported the adoption of the IMO’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), which aims to increase carbon efficiency of new ships by 30%.

ENERGY SAVING SOLUTIONS

We can provide technical energy saving solutions for all manner of marine environments, tailored to those who want to make positive changes toward ‘greener’ seas. Our systems control heat, power and lighting in a more defined manner, helping to reduce fuel usage and in doing so, reduce the carbon footprint of the vessel.

Simple, elegant and bespoke, our controls create straightforward and accessible touch screen environments that enable crew to manage and monitor all systems.

MAKING THE DIFFERENCE

Having Sensory Energy on-board from the outset ensures that the design and build of a vessel is done so with complete energy efficiency in mind. Our innovative solutions to lighting, power and HVAC control offer a multitude of benefits, including a reduction in weight and heat. By their efficient design, they also decrease installation costs at the point of build and once commissioned, run efficiently with lower operating costs. We work with naval architects, project managers, management companies and shipyards to produce a coordinated working solution with tried and tested technologies intended to work within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) for new vessels.

We also provide highly effective refit solutions, many of which can be a tweak or change to existing systems in place.

We work alongside yacht crews to provide energy saving solutions in keeping with the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) for all vessels.
